Curve Expo - Spring 2019: Serving Up Lingerie Realness
Posted on 08 August 2018
The biannual Curve Expo lingerie show rolled into town last week and as usual it was a whirlwind few days for the industry. If you've been following us for a while then you know the drill: brands debut their newest collections and yadda, yadda, yadda..... But instead of boring you with a detailed rendition of everything I viewed this go around, I thought I'd just post the photos I took because, let's be honest, that's the fun part! Here's 10 of my top brand picks:
It wouldn't be a Curve show without visiting the Mimi Holliday booth. As expected, I was dazzled by their new collection. Cut out stars! Romantic hearts! But nothing prepared me to see my fantasies come to life in this pink rainbow collection. It’s as if Mimi was designing especially for me. :)
I always love stopping by the Only Hearts booth not only for their delicate fabrics and soft silhouettes but also for their little surprises of quirky details. Like some of their newest prints, including a detailed deck of cards print and sweet unicorns in pink and blue.
It looks like Playboy has just teamed up with luxury British lingerie brand Coco De Mer for a small, moderately priced capsule collection. Not sure it this will be an ongoing thing (here's hoping) but for now I'm digging the asymmetric silhouettes and of course, the famous bunny tail.
Playful Promises has some of the most diverse offerings of lingerie each season - I don't know how they do it. Besides their signature line, Bettie Page collection and Peek & Beau line (obsessed with their most recent Barbarella-esque photo shoot BTW) the Gabi Fresh collection for plus sizes was total perfection.
Yes, Master has some of the weirdest, yet most innovative collections year after year. Always marching to the beat of their own drum, it's refreshing to see designs that are truly unique and not conforming to any trends. And with the affordable price points of their diffusion collections, this is a brand that's accessible to many lingeristas.
In case you were wondering, Flora Nikrooz is still bad-ass and still designing some of the most gorgeous sleepwear around with her Rya Collection brand. Her embroideries, silks and sequins scream luxury and appeal to a wide range of ages. Take her new teal bird embroidery for instance, who wouldn't want to wear this work of art?
Newcomer Keep It Silky showcased perhaps the most luxurious collection I've ever fondled, unabashedly. Not only does this French brand use the finest qualities of silk and lace, but they stitch all the lace on by hand and painstakingly cut away the fabric behind, following every curve and crevice. Plus their colors are so bright and cheerful you can't help but smile when you look at them!
The Lingerie Selection was a smaller, more intimate lingerie trade show going on at the same time as Curve and while visiting I was treated to the new designs from sexy lingerie brand The Muse. This season they're offering some creative takes on luxury lingerie and giving them an edgy feel with new silhouettes and details.
All I could talk about after visiting the Lingerie Selection were these honeybee sets from Loulette. Their golden embroidered mesh is to die for and unlike anything we've seen recently. I also may have swooned over their fringe robes and swiss dot capelet.
